The Holy Shroud of Turin
also known as the Burial cloth of Jesus
It is the full size, authentic, replica of the burial shroud of Jesus.
The Holy Shroud is a proceless treasure in the cathedral of Turin, Italy. As tradition has it, it is the burial cloth in which Jesus' body was wrapped when He was laid in the tomb at the hill of Calvary. The Holy Shroud fascinates the simple and the wise, believers and unbelievers alike. Millions saw it during the expositions of 1978, 1998, 2000, and 2010.
What can be seen on the linen sheet (which measures 14' 3" long by 3' 7" wide)? On the linen cloth are images of the front and back of a man. The two views show that He was laid on his Back at one end of the cloth with his head toward the center of the cloth. The cloth was then folded over His head to cover the front of His body from head to foot. The color of the images is a faint sepia (straw-color) contrasting with the off-white, ivory-color of the ancient cloth. It is a sight you will never forget.
A keynote by the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Stevenson, a member of the STURP team and frequent speaker on the Shroud, delivered to the members and guests of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on the scientific evidence backing the Shroud's authenticity is available online. This presentation is streamed as a video from our media page.
